A source of creativity which does not live far from the reality that surrounds us, and which, based on popular and traditional culture, speaks to us about the politics of today. The 2019 Fira presents proposals which speak to us and reflect on questions of gender, based on cultural roots.

FUSION WITH BANDS

The Mediterranean Fira attaches great importance to the interchange and intersection between heritage, entities of popular and traditional culture, and the professional sector. The 2019 Fira proposes a fusion of different artists with musical bands, one of the most active cultural expressions of the associative panorama of the Mediterranean.

FOCUS ON SARDINIA

Focus is the section concerned with the non-material heritage of Sardinia, and which will be centred on the Plaça Sant Domènec. There, we shall enjoy one of the most characteristic carnivals of the Mediterranean, we shall listen to the cantu a tenore (Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity), we shall discover traditional Sardinian dancing, and we shall play the game of morra, among other activities.

Like concentric circles, Fira Mediterrània has five associated projects that spur the event to get bigger and become more international, both in the area of theatre (ESPAI XARXA ALCOVER, TEATRE AMATEUR CATALUNYA CENTRAL) and folk music (ESTEPA MEDITERRÀNIA, HUMUS MEDITERRANI, CONCURS SONS)

WORLD CUISINE FAIR

Try cuisine from around the world at the Fira Mediterrània open-air food fair, next to the Taverna Cervesa Guineu concert venue. You will find an enormous selection of high quality and creative food.

FIRAPASSEIG

From Friday until Sunday, the Passeig Pere III is converted into a market for gastronomy, handicraft and exhibition suppliers. Come and nose around – you are sure to find interesting products.
